Use whatever gift you have received to serve others.
1 Peter 4:10

About Us

This group of dedicated volunteers came together to honor the life and legacy of Bob Carpenter (1949-2021). Bob exemplified a servant’s heart. He was generous with both his time and money in helping others.

Opportunties

Opportunities to serve others after a disaster is ongoing and takes on many different forms. Catastrophic floods, massive tornadoes and devastating earthquakes are a few that attract national attention and usually attract the larger NGO's. (Non-Governmental Organizations).

The house fire or local flood in a small rural community is just as disastrous to those affected as the ones that make the national news. In HIS Service attempts to assist wherever possible. Often times we partner with larger better equipped organizations and concentrate on the areas less visible to the larger NGO's. This offers opportunities to share the love of Christ on a more personal level. A kind word and a cold meat sandwich can start a conversation that delivers hope to the individual. This needs to be followed by actions and in truth as outlined in I John 3:17-18.

Partnering with Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas child

Bob Carpenter's desire to assist in Operation Christmas Child 20 years ago has resulted in the formation of the Great Lakes OCC. The organization has grown from a few that travelled to the Charlotte , North Carolina processing center, to over 150 volunteers in 2023. These dedicated folks will spend a week receiving, inspecting, and cartonizing shoeboxes to be shipped around the world. These will be the first gifts that some children have ever received and opens up the door to show God's love and introduce them to the free gift of salvation through "The Greatest Journey".
